For students at the University of New Hampshire (UNH), the last week has been a miserable case of déjà vu, and a coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine provides a glimmer of hope.
New Hampshire, a state with a small population that managed to avoid the abundance of cases rapidly appearing during the first wave of the pandemic during March and April of last year, now finds itself grappling with and facing the real-life consequences of ignoring public safety guidelines preached by the state’s Governor.
In December 2020, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved two vaccines recommended to prevent coronavirus (COVID-19), the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, and Moderna’s vaccine. Entering the new year with the pandemic still prevalent in everyday life, students and community members alike can inform themselves on both vaccines here.
For over twenty years, Health & Wellness has hosted a flu clinic on the University of New Hampshire’s (UNH) campus for students, faculty, and staff. This year’s clinic looked a little different compared to years past due to the coronavirus (COVID-19). The university alongside Health & Wellness put in place extra safety measures for those receiving and administering the vaccinations.
