When I first walked into our newsroom I was slightly intimidated by all of the cool, older, more seasoned-looking journalists, but I soon felt at home with people I came to know as great people that happened to be great writers too. We all love the Earth and the beauty it has brought to us, so it's time to give back and show it some love too. There are many different ways to be more sustainable that are easy changes anyone can make in their day to day life. While the individual consumer doesn’t produce anywhere near the emissions that many big companies do, we can still make a difference and demand change together. So to help you with some ideas, here is a list of ways to live a more sustainable and environmentally conscious life.

The new Netflix documentary “Seaspiracy” made a splash of controversy on more than its content about the horrors of the fishing industry; this controversy came from many viewers who believed it should have been called “ConspiraSea” instead. But hate the name or love it, the film is sure to make anyone think twice before eating seafood.

The University of New Hampshire (UNH) has been flirting with the idea of having a bike share program for a long time according to Ritzman Lab Special Projects Director Steve Pesci, and now, technology has given them the opportunity to implement this idea. This initiative comes with support from students and Durham residents, and it could be implemented in the spring of 2022.

Researchers at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) found that more than 50% of at-risk children in the United States are not receiving the behavioral and mental health services that could improve their developmental outcomes.

Some people may have heard of a new internet trend called Veganuary, where anyone can participate and try to go vegan or plant-based for the month of January. It’s a sort of kickstart for veganism. Veganuary is an annual challenge run by a U.K. nonprofit organization that promotes and educates about veganism by encouraging people to follow a vegan lifestyle during January and possibly throughout the year.

President Donald Trump falsely claimed he won the 2020 presidential election, even though many key states have not counted all of their votes yet. He made this statement when he appeared in front of cameras in the East Room at the White House shortly before 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday Nov. 4. While the presidential race remains close, it is not over until all ballots have been counted.

Sen. Ed Markey (Massachusetts) talked about Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s plans to use the current climate change crisis to create more jobs for Americans. Markey’s message to University of New Hampshire (UNH) students is to vote for Biden to fight climate change and combat systemic racism in America. The senator talked to the Durham community at a campaign event for Biden at the Freedom Café on Friday, Oct. 30.

At the annual Take Back the Night event for survivors of sexual assault and harassment at the University of New Hampshire (UNH), students, faculty and staff showed off their support by hanging posters, putting purple glowsticks in their windows and posting pictures with the caption #UNHPurpleThursday over social media for the virtual event on Thursday, Oct. 22. The event was put on by the Sexual Harassment and Rape Prevention Program (SHARPP) at UNH.
