ew Hampshire (UNH) sophomore quarterback Max Brosmer was in the best shape of his life ahead of the 2021 fall campaign. On the heels of his third offseason in the program, teammates commended Brosmer’s decision making and athleticism during training camp. A season where Brosmer and the Wildcats were going to have to prove they belonged in the conversation at the top of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) quickly turned into one where Brosmer had to prove himself not only as a quarterback, but a coach.

UNH football only had the opportunity to play one game this spring. In week they hosted UAlbany and lost by a final of 24-20. DURHAM, N.H. – It felt more like November than September when the Wildcats (0-1) kicked off their season this time around. As snow lined Wildcat Stadium redshirt sophomore quarterback Jeff Undercuffler torched the Wildcat defense in the third quarter to build a 10-point UAlbany (1-0) lead. UNH beat themselves as penalties stacked up and they squandered a chance to steal a win in the final moments. Despite shining at points, the Wildcats fell by a final of 24-20 in their first of six games this spring.

The Wildcats will face a six-team schedule consisting of only Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) schools. After watching the departure of a handful of veteran defenders from 2019, head coach Sean McDonnell still thinks his defense can be a threat and will be supplemented by developing offensive talent.

The biggest storyline ahead of Monday night’s College Football Playoff National Championship Game is head coach Nick Saban going for his seventh career national title. Saban has led his Alabama Crimson Tide to a 12-0 record en route to becoming the No. 1 team in the nation and now bidding to become national champions. For the state of New Hampshire, however, there should be a heightened level of interest for the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes on Monday night.
