Spring 2021 was the third semester coronavirus (COVID-19) was present in the streets of Durham. This spring students continued to test regularly, use Wildcat pass, take hybrid classes, and follow additional safety restrictions. My middle school is known for our jazz band. Definitely not as good as we thought we were, but not bad. My instrument of choice in the band was the flute. Most of the time it sounded like a suffocating bird instead of an instrument, but despite my inability to actually produce music myself, I appreciated jazz band because of how our conductor taught us how to play it. We would listen to it, break all the parts down, and then build it back together with the instruments we had. This construction and reconstruction method taught me to appreciate music for all its parts and complexity. I learned that different artists don’t just play music, they are able to use their voices or their instruments to portray a certain set of emotion and values.

The university cited uncertainty regarding coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine rollout, the emergence of new variants, current restrictions on U.S. travel, and the U.S. Department of State rating most countries at the highest risk levels as reasons behind this decision

University of New Hampshire (UNH) President James W. Dean decided not to change the name of the UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law after a task force of students, faculty, staff, and alumni recommended against doing so. The school considered eliminating Franklin Pierce’s, the fourteenth and only U.S. President from N.H., name because of his connections with slavery.

University of New Hampshire (UNH) senior sociology and justice studies major Laura Clancy voted early in the day on Nov. 3. Her classmate, recreation management and policy and event management major Caroline Wilson voted absentee. But the students’ Election Day did not end once they cast their votes. In the morning, Wilson and Clancy took a picture in front of a minivan that they dubbed “The Vote Mobile” or “the Bald Eagle” on social media, offering free rides to the polls.

The Associated Press projects that U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas will defeat Republican challenger Matt Mowers in the race for N.H.’s 1st Congressional District. It is the first time a congressional representative from either party from the district has won consecutive terms in over 10 years.
