In their first true test of the season the University of New Hampshire (UNH) Wildcats (2-2, 0-0) certainly looked the part and made quick work of the Quinnipiac Bobcats (3-2, 0-0) by an 84-69 final. Senior forward Jayden Martinez was the difference maker for UNH and is showing early signs at a run for America East Player of the Year.

DURHAM, N.H. – No. 3 University of New Hampshire (UNH) men’s basketball (10-9, 9-6) had to face No. 6 UMass Lowell (10-11, 7-8) in their fourth straight game to round out their 2020-21 campaign. The Wildcats hosted the River Hawks in the quarterfinals of the America East Tournament and saw their season come to an end at the hands of the conference’s top player, senior Obadiah Noel.

DURHAM, N.H. – University of New Hampshire men’s basketball (9-8, 8-6) played in their seventh consecutive weekend and split their third straight series after going 1-1 against the UMass Lowell Riverhawks (7-9, 6-6). Fatigue has appeared to set in for the Wildcats as they let game one slip away by a final of 74-69. The team was able to salvage the weekend, however, by pulling ahead late on Saturday afternoon to win 74-63.

VESTAL, N.Y. – Much of the standing within the America East Conference remains up in the air as the season is about to hit its final stretch before the conference tournament. University of New Hampshire (UNH) men’s basketball (8-7, 7-5) had yet another opportunity to take a leap and solidify themselves in the top half of the America East. The Wildcats, however, failed to take care of business on a trip to the last place Binghamton Bearcats (2-13, 2-10).

The pressure was on after falling to .500, and a date with the then conference-leading Stony Brook Seawolves (6-6, 4-2) on the horizon.

The UNH Wildcats men’s basketball team (4-3, 3-1) traveled to Orono, ME for a weekend set with the Black Bears (1-4, 1-3) on the heels of a two-game sweep of the Hartford Hawks to start their conference schedule. UNH remains plagued by injuries to their top-end talent but juniors Marque Maultsby and Jayden Martinez took on the team’s top scorer role as they split two games with UMaine.

HAMDEN, CONN. – UNH men’s basketball dropped their second straight game in their final test ahead of their 2020-21 in-conference schedule. The Quinnipiac Bobcats took down the Wildcats by a final of 64-58 to improve to 2-2 while UNH fell to 1-2. Junior forward Jayden Martinez took on the scoring responsibilities as senior guard Sean Sutherlin remained sidelined and junior forward Nick Guadarrama missed his first game of the season.

Sloppy UNH defense leads to 85-93 loss vs. Bryant

The University of New Hampshire (UNH) men’s basketball team dropped their first game of the season to the Bryant University Bulldogs in the team’s first Division I game of the year. Head coach Bill Herrion made it abundantly clear that his team’s defensive performance led to the 85-93 loss in the postgame press conference. The Wildcats allowed Bryant to shoot 50 percent from inside the three-point line and Herrion is shouldering much of the blame.
