The University of New Hampshire (UNH) Wildcats (3-8, 2-6) jumped out to a 20-7 lead with 9:50 remaining in the first half of their regular season finale against the Maine Black Bears (6-5, 4-4). From that point forward, four interceptions and six scoring plays for the visiting Black Bears led to 26 unanswered points and the Brice-Cowell Musket’s sixth trip back to Orono since the turn of the century.

This year, however, this is just the start of the action for the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). CAA Media Day – which normally takes place in July – was held via Zoom last week as UNH and the rest of the league prepares for the first week of March.
The UNH Wildcats men’s basketball team (4-3, 3-1) traveled to Orono, ME for a weekend set with the Black Bears (1-4, 1-3) on the heels of a two-game sweep of the Hartford Hawks to start their conference schedule. UNH remains plagued by injuries to their top-end talent but juniors Marque Maultsby and Jayden Martinez took on the team’s top scorer role as they split two games with UMaine.
UNH pulled off their upset of the season with a 58-57 win over the 5-0 UMaine Black Bears before falling 76-56 in the second game of the two-game series. The Wildcats came in as heavy underdogs but managed to squeeze out a win in the closing seconds thanks to a pair of clutch free throws from senior guard Amanda Torres. The win snapped UNH's nine game losing streak versus the Black Bears.
The University of New Hampshire women’s hockey team hosted the University of Maine Black Bears for a two-game series over the weekend. The games were played at the Whittemore Center in Durham. The Wildcats entered the game with a 1-3 record after picking up a win against Boston University in their last matchup.
After a long-awaited return, UNH men’s hockey is ready to kick-off their season with a matchup against their rival, the University of Maine. The games that were scheduled to take place in Orono, ME on Dec. 11 and 12 have been relocated to Durham in the Whittemore Center.
UNH looked to continue their three-game winning streak this past Wednesday night when they took on the UMaine Black Bears (15-14, 11-4) in “The Border Battle” at Lundholm Gymnasium.
The UNH women’s hockey team spent this past weekend at UMaine battling against the rival Black Bears, and then also faced the Dartmouth Big Green on Tuesday in Durham.
