UNH reacts to HB2 regulations on teaching race

With language prohibiting certain ideas from being taught in public schools in place, HB2 passed this summer and was signed into law by Gov. Chris Sununu. Most University of New Hampshire (UNH) classrooms will not be affected by any language in the law due to a provision that exempts faculty in the New Hampshire university and community college system.  They are protected from anything that would restrict their academic freedom “to conduct research, publish, lecture, or teach in the academic setting.” But, the bill's effect on diversity training at UNH remains uncertain.

On Tuesday, April 20, the jury’s verdict of the Derek Chauvin trial was read, finding former Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin guilty on charges of second-degree unintentional murder, third degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

UNH announces new incident reporting tool

A new bias reporting tool known as the Incident Report Form (IRF) replacing former tool, ReportIt!, was announced in an email on Tuesday from University of New Hampshire (UNH) President James Dean, Associate Vice President for Community, Equity and Diversity Nadine Petty, and Director and Title IX Coordinator Donna Marie Sorrentino.

On Sept. 30, President of the University of New Hampshire (UNH) James Dean, hosted his third town hall this semester regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) on campus. The town hall was joined by Chief Diversity Officer Dr. Nadine Petty and Provost and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Wayne Jones. The event was moderated by Student Body President Nicholas Fitzgerald and law student Michael Fazzi.
