ALBANY, N.Y. – University of New Hampshire (UNH) women’s basketball fell to the University of Albany (UAlbany) in the first round of the America East Tournament by a final score of 49-43 on Sunday. UNH (5-15, 5-11) entered the contest as the fifth seed, with UAlbany (6-10, 5-7) earning the fourth seed. Head coach Kelsey Hogan's young team almost pulled off a double-digit comeback, but back-to-back three-pointers with under two minutes to play proved to be the dagger for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats, who have exceeded most expectations this season looked more like what their preseason projections looked like in this weekend series. Neither game was close, and head coach Kelsey Hogan showed some frustration with her teams' performance.

The final score doesn’t tell the whole story, however, as the Wildcats seemed to have the game wrapped up by halftime.

DURHAM, N.H. - Kelsey Hogan, the UNH women’s basketball head coach, is the youngest coach in women’s college basketball. She inherited a team that had gone a combined 16-43 the last two seasons. She replaced Maureen Magarity, who had guided the Wildcats for 10 seasons and became the second-winningest coach in school history.

UNH pulled off their upset of the season with a 58-57 win over the 5-0 UMaine Black Bears before falling 76-56 in the second game of the two-game series. The Wildcats came in as heavy underdogs but managed to squeeze out a win in the closing seconds thanks to a pair of clutch free throws from senior guard Amanda Torres. The win snapped UNH's nine game losing streak versus the Black Bears.
