The 2021 NCAA men’s basketball tournament was one for the ages. Cinderella stories and juggernauts like Gonzaga and Baylor facing off on the biggest stage in college hoops. After a year without a tournament, the anticipation for this year’s tournament was palpable. The tournament certainly didn’t disappoint with moments like Jalen Suggs game-winning three pointer for Gonzaga versus UCLA, and Sister Jean willing Loyola Chicago to another improbable Sweet Sixteen appearance.

Four former Wildcats made UNH proud this past weekend by winning the National Women’s Hockey League’s (NWHL) Isobel Cup. Jenna Rheault, Carlee Turner, Meghara McManus, and Taylor Wenczkowski were all part of the 2021 NWHL Champion Boston Pride.

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire (UNH) women’s volleyball team (7-3) dominated on senior day winning easily against the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) Highlanders (2-10). The Wildcats celebrated senior day cruising to a 3-0 win on the back of the only senior on the team, setter Emma Patlovich. She was honored prior to the game with flowers and applause from teammates before setting a season-high for service aces with four. Patlovich set up teammates for easy kills all afternoon garnering 30 assists and she wasn’t shy to dive on the floor, shown by her five digs.

The University of New Hampshire volleyball (5-4) faced off against the UMBC (8-3) and Binghamton (0-9) over the weekend. The Wildcats came away from the weekend 3-1 and had head coach Christopher Feliciano feeling confident after three straight wins.

The University of New Hampshire (UNH) women’s hockey team (7-14-1) was eliminated on Sunday by Northeastern (18-1-1) in the quarterfinals of the Hockey East Tournament. The Wildcats defeated Holy Cross (4-15-1) in the first round of the tournament before their matchup against the Huskies.

Emily Rickwood didn’t always want to play hockey. Back home in Ontario, Canada she first tried the sport after her dad decided to help coach one of the boy’s teams. He begged her to come out for the team, and she eventually agreed. She made the team and from then on, she was in love. Rickwood played for her dad from that moment on taking on any challenge she faced.

The University of New Hampshire women’s hockey team hosted the University of Maine Black Bears for a two-game series over the weekend. The games were played at the Whittemore Center in Durham. The Wildcats entered the game with a 1-3 record after picking up a win against Boston University in their last matchup.

Celtics build around young core in hopes of an 18th banner

The Boston Celtics have had a busy offseason following their defeat in the Eastern Conference Finals at the hands of the Miami Heat. Miami beat Boston in six games forcing the Celtics to miss out on the finals again after making it to the Eastern Conference Finals in three of the last four seasons but haven’t been able to get over the hump.
