DURHAM, N.H. – In an unprecedented season, the University of New Hampshire men’s hockey team is about midway through their season – one that hasn’t been too kind to them. They currently sit at 3-7-1, which has them sixth in the Hockey East above UMass Lowell, UMaine, Boston University, UVM and Merrimack, who have all played less games than the Wildcats.
After a 7-0 route of the University of New Hampshire men’s hockey team (3-7-1) at the hands of No. 13 Northeastern (6-3-2) Wednesday night, the Wildcats looked to bounce back this past weekend in a two-game series against UConn (5-5-1). Unfortunately for the ‘Cats, the weekend didn’t go according to plan as they went on to get swept by the Huskies.
After a long-awaited return, UNH men’s hockey is ready to kick-off their season with a matchup against their rival, the University of Maine. The games that were scheduled to take place in Orono, ME on Dec. 11 and 12 have been relocated to Durham in the Whittemore Center.
It’s been a constant not only this season, but through his whole career; junior goalie Mike Robinson is either locked in or is off his game based of his performance early on.
As the tension grows in the final stretch of the season, the Wildcats started out their bid against fourth place UMass Lowell by handing them a pair of early power plays.
Following a shutout performance from junior goalie Mike Robinson, the UNH men’s hockey team continued their defensive success in a 1-1 tie against No. 7 UMass Amherst.
