Look ahead to the fall season for women’s soccer

The University of New Hampshire (UNH) women’s soccer team didn’t get a chance to compete in the 2021 postseason. The team earned a spot in the America East Tournament, but due to coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns within the program, they were forced to withdraw. The ‘Cats had a strong season up until their early exit. They had the best start in program history (4-0) and never dropped a game at Wildcat Stadium.

DURHAM, N.H. – Just one week after clinching a playoff berth in the final week of the regular season, coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns forced the University of New Hampshire (UNH) women's soccer team (5-2, 2-2) to withdraw from the America East Tournament. The timing of the outbreak couldn't have been worse for the Wildcats. UNH had managed to avoid an outbreak this season, but with the America East Semifinal set to be played Thursday, the positive tests meant a withdrawal from the season.

DURHAM, N.H. – University of New Hampshire (UNH) women's soccer (5-1, 2-1) won in double overtime against the University of Vermont (0-2, 0-2) by a final score of 2-1. It was senior day at Wildcat Stadium, and Vermont came close to spoiling the occasion until an 87th minute equalizer and 115th minute game-winner for UNH. The small crowd that UNH allowed in cheered the Wildcats on during a hard-fought physical game.

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire (UNH) women’s soccer team kicked off their season with a 1-0 win over Northeastern (0-1) Sunday, Feb. 14. The game was the first fall sport to play this spring season following the delay of all fall sports due to COVID-19. The win was a comfortable one for the Wildcats despite the narrow score; the Huskies never looked like a real attacking threat.
