Outdoor season set to kick off for Wildcats on Saturday

·

Ready to build off their indoor track seasons, the outdoor season is upon the ‘Cats after a couple of weeks off from competing. The women’s team captured a respectable third-place finish at the America East Championships in indoor while the men reached their goal of a top-five by finishing fifth. Athletes usually see their times drop and jumps and throws gain in the outdoor season due to growth and change of competition conditions, so expect a healthy amount of new personal records this upcoming season.

Dear LaVar Ball, enough is enough

·

Like it or not, it had to be said. Ever since LaVar Ball, who seemed to come out of nowhere, uttered the words that his son, UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball, could be better than two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry, LaVar has been on a media firestorm.

Nkounkou raises the bar as a multi-skilled competitor

·

In the world of track and field, the heptathlon and decathlon are tough beasts to tame.  Attempted by few, the two series of competition require a mastery of multiple events, all to be completed at one meet. Joel Nkounkou never thought he would be attempting the 10 events required by the decathlon, but he has slowly built his strengths and has found himself at a good point in his UNH track and field career.

I am not trying to call out my Sports Editor Brian Dunn, who picked the Blue Devils to win it all, but more or less am here to make you feel better as we gather to watch the Sweet 16 on Thursday and Friday.

DMR team highlights weekend meets

·

In the process of wrapping up a long indoor track season this weekend, both UNH teams competed at their respective meets at Boston University.  The men took to the Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes of America (IC4As) and the women the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECACs) meets. Not everyone runs at these meets, with both meets having competitive qualifying standards. Both teams were coming off a tough conference championship meet last weekend when the men placed fifth and the women third.
