The stakes couldn’t have been higher for the UNH women’s lacrosse team on Saturday against Binghamton University, and they were relatively simple to grasp: win, and you’re in the playoffs. UNH accomplished that task, defeating the Bearcats, 11-6, at Wildcat Stadium on Senior Day to deliver the ‘Cats the No. 4 seed in the America East playoff tournament.
After starting the month of April off with a two-game win streak, the Wildcats felt they had finally found their game.
Junior Elinor Purrier got it done, yet again, by breaking her own school record in the 3000-meter steeplechase on Saturday night at the Ocean State Invitational at Providence College.
On Saturday, April 15, the Northeast Passage quad rugby team held their weekly practice at the Hamel Recreation Center at the University of New Hampshire. The practice was a highflying back and forth scrimmage between teammates upstairs on the upper basketball courts.

A conference championship, an NCAA Tournament appearance and an America East All-Rookie Team selection, as well as All-Conference First Team, made for a pretty successful freshman volleyball season for Emily Tanski. What’s scary for the rest of the conference is that she’s not done yet.
The Celtics’ second consecutive playoff run already looks more promising than last year’s, at least through the first round. They have two regular season games remaining and currently hold a tie for first place in the Eastern Conference with the Cleveland Cavaliers. They’re guaranteed at least third place, and with one more win they’ll have clinched at least the second seed.
Both the men’s and women’s UNH track and field teams competed at home this weekend in the Wildcat Invitational on Saturday, April 8. The women’s team came away with a first-place finish in the first home meet of the spring season, while the men finished second behind the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
l column and I have to go out on a high note. I thought about commenting on Tony Romo’s recent retirement and how his legacy stacks up with the other quarterbacks. But a friend of mine convinced me that I should write about something different. I thought about it and I took his word for it. This friend suggested that I write about UNC’s recent championship win and how great the teams’ “road to redemption” was. The more I thought about it, the more I began to realize how great the sport of basketball is. That is why I say there is nothing better in this world than sports, especially basketball.
It may be early April, but the UNH volleyball team is gearing up for its annual spring season that will be begin Saturday, April 8, with matches against Boston College, Bryant University and Providence College. The ‘Cats then host Boston College on April 20 and Dartmouth College on April 22.

Down in the windy city at the United Center in Chicago, the Denver Pioneers, Harvard Crimson, Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs and fellow Hockey East native Notre Dame Fighting Irish will face off for the right to crown themselves national champions.

Not too many college athletes get to turn their dreams into a reality and go pro, but for 23-year-old Andrew Poturalski, his dream of playing in the NHL happened almost overnight. Well, sort of.
The ‘Cats are outside now, and that is very good news for Elinor Purrier and her teammates. While the outdoor season has officially started, it was not without delays as the competitors who traveled to Orono, Maine were forced to wait an extra day due to inclement weather .
