Dodgers, Rays prove to be model for Red Sox future

The Boston Red Sox finished with the fourth worst record in baseball in the abbreviated 2020 season. The team was well short of a playoff spot but the World Series matchup between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Tampa Bay Rays exposed the biggest flaw that stands between the Red Sox and another run at a championship – good, young pitching. The series also highlighted a glimmer of hope for Red Sox Nation moving forward.

CAA announces UNH football spring schedule

Just a few weeks after the Colonial Athletics Association (CAA) announced the plans for a six-game spring schedule a Tuesday morning press release answered all the questions that were left unanswered in the initial announcement. The conference released the schedules for 11 schools which are set to kick off on Saturday, March 6; Towson being the only school not participating in the season.

Newton benched in 33-6 loss against 49ers

The New England Patriots were handed one of the worst losses in the Bill Belichick era by the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. The Patriots' third straight loss was an outright disaster with the Niners cruising to a 33-6 victory. It’s hard to find anything the Patriots did well in this game. The defense was sieve-like, the offense was downright awful, and the coaching left much to be desired.

With the NHL draft in the rearview and 31 franchises in the midst of the free agency period there is still a couple of monumental decision to be made; what will 43-year-old Zdeno Chara do, and how will the Bruins replace him in the first defensive pairing?

Two years ago, the Boston Bruins were one win away from lifting Lord Stanley’s Cup on home ice against the St. Louis Blues. Unfortunately, they went on to lose again to the almighty Tampa Bay Lightning who took home the Cup this season.

Patriots disappoint at home against Broncos

Foxborough M.A. – The New England Patriots lost in frustrating fashion on Sunday; The Denver Broncos came into Gillette Stadium and stole an 18-12 win. The Patriots entered the game with only two practices in the past two weeks and they looked noticeably sloppy.

Pair of former Wildcats signed to pro contracts

A pair of former Wildcats were each signed to professional organizations recently. Former UNH cornerback Prince Smith Jr. was signed to the practice squad to the Cleveland Browns, and Kaylan Williams – formerly of the UNH women’s soccer team – signed a contract overseas to play for WFC Ramat Hasharon in Israel.

Reid, Engaras selected in NHL draft

On Wednesday October 7 the NHL draft took place and UNH saw a couple of their own come off the board to a pair of NHL franchises. Defenseman Luke Reid and forward Filip Engarås were both drafted last Wednesday night in the sixth round.

Optimism grows at UNH as hockey season approaches

The men’s hockey team has started to get back into the action practicing in two groups and getting back on the ice. Each UNH player is tested to ensure that everyone on the team stays healthy and doesn’t infect the rest of the players.
