On Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 6:15 a.m., the Associated Press officially declared Donald Trump the official winner of the 2024 Presidential Election.
The winner was declared with the final counts coming from Wisconsin, of which cleared Trump the 270 electoral votes needed. Trump will be joined in the White House by Ohio Senator J.D. Vance. This election decision comes after a lengthy and arduous campaign process, notably marked by two assassination attempts against former President Trump.
Donald Trump becomes only the second U.S. president to be elected to two non-consecutive terms, after Grover Cleveland won the presidency in 1892. Donald Trump served his first term as the 45th president from 2017-2021.
A selection of Donald Trump’s twenty campaign promises taken from his website are “SEAL THE BORDER AND STOP THE MIGRANT INVASION, CARRY OUT THE LARGEST DEPORTATION OPERATION IN AMERICAN HISTORY, END INFLATION, AND MAKE AMERICA AFFORDABLE AGAIN”.
On Dec. 16 of last year, Donald Trump made a campaign stop at UNH’s Whittemore Center. There, he spoke to supporters about many of the main issues of his campaign such as the Southern U.S. border, taxes, and electrical vehicle ‘mandates’.
