DURHAM N.H.- The University of New Hampshire (UNH) men’s soccer team (6-1-4, 0-0-3 AE) is halfway through their regular season, which has been anything but ordinary. Here is a round down of how the games have gone.
Sept. 23 vs. Binghamton
The Wildcats were ranked eighteen in this game when they traveled down to Binghamton, New York. This was the America East conference opener, which resulted in a tie, 0-0. This was graduate student goalie Joseba Incera’s first shutout of his career at UNH.
Sept. 26 vs. Harvard
At the time, the 24-ranked UNH had a successful game against the Harvard Crimson at Wildcat Stadium. Graduate student forward Eli Goldman would score the only goal of the game after graduate student midfielder Atila Ashrafi took a shot that deflected towards Goldman. This 1-0 game would turn out to be Incera’s second shutout in a row.
Sept. 29 vs. UAlbany
The second conference game of the season followed suit with the first one and resulted in a 0-0 tie. This game would make it three shutout games in a row for Incera.
Oct. 3 vs. Northeastern
The Wildcats traveled down to Brookline, Massachusetts for their matchup against the Northeastern Huskies. Sophomore goalie Erik Lauta would be in net for this game and record his first shutout as a Wildcat. Graduate student Bilal Kamal would tally two points this game from scoring one goal and having one assist. The other two goals were contributed by Goldman and Ashrafi.
Oct. 7 vs. Bryant
The third conference game and most recent game resulted in a 1-1 tie against the Bryant Bulldogs. Graduate student Liam Bennett scored the sole goal for UNH of the game. Incera was back in the net for this game.
Next up on the schedule is a conference away game versus UMBC on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. The next home game will be on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. against Hofstra, the Wildcats will be celebrating Real ‘Cats Wear Pink that day.
