Smithfield, Rhode Island- The University of New Hampshire Wildcats (3-4-1, 0-1) travel to Smithfield Rhode Island this weekend for an American East showdown vs. the Bryant Bulldogs (3-2-2, 1-0).
The Wildcats enter the game on a two-game losing streak following losses at Boston University and a home loss to Binghampton. Bryant, however, joins following a home win against Marist and a 1-0 record in America East competition.
The Wildcats enter Saturday’s game on an offensive skid, scoring just one goal in their last 4 outings. Things will not get any easier for the ‘Cats offense in this matchup as the Bulldogs only allowed 0.67 goals per game through their first 9 games.
Another obstacle standing in the Wildcats’ way, is Bryant’s 2-0 undefeated home record vs. the Wildcats’ 1-3 road record.
This game marks the second game of an 8-game stretch of American East opponents for the ‘Cats, who currently sit in 8th place in the Conference with lots of room and time for improvement with a win on Saturday.
The Wildcats will look for an offensive spark from Junior Midfielder Meghan Guarente, who has scored goals in two of the Wildcats’ last three road games and leads the team in scoring. Meghan Entered the game on Saturday with 4 total goals and 10 total points.
The Bulldogs, however, will look to continue to lean on Senior Goalkeeper Kathryn McNeil, who has allowed just 2 goals against in over 400 minutes of playing time so far this season with a .905 save percentage.
The Wildcats look to notch their first Conference win this Sunday at 1 p.m.
