Local Sounds: UNH-based bands to look out for

Allison Bellucci/Staff UNH student band Dogs that know they’re dogs perform at the annual Solar Fest held on Boulder Field each spring.

Barefoot Young

Barefoot Young draws their sound from bands such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sublime, Twenty One Pilots and Cage the Elephant. They play monthly at local venues in Portsmouth.  On the UNH campus, Barefoot Young has played at the May Day Carnival and have been featured on WUNH.

Derek Bolivar (‘17) – vocals, bass, piano

Ian Howard (‘17) – guitar

Dogs that know they’re dogs

This local band has played all around UNH, from sets at the Freedom Cafe to providing entertainment at campus events such as Solarfest and the Get Outta Bed and Shred ski and snowboard expo. Dogs Who Know They’re Dogs plays a wide variety of rock, from indie and folk to bluegrass and funk.

Jack Seperack (‘18) – percussion

Notches

This indie rock/punk group plays regularly in the Dover area and often spends school breaks on tour, playing gigs as far away as Virginia and Chicago. Here at UNH, Notches has been known to appear in MUSO sponsored shows.
