Friday afternoon Hockey East issued a press release which contained schedule updates for games this weekend. UNH men’s ice hockey was a part of those schedule changes as their game last night against BC has been postponed to a later date.
UNH men’s hockey was ready to kick-off their long-awaited season against the No.2 ranked BC Eagles but an inconclusive COVID-19 test on the UNH roster caused the game to be postponed to a later date; Saturday’s game is in jeopardy as well.
The news was reported by WMUR’s Jaime Staton who tweeted the news Friday evening.
“An inconclusive covid test on a UNH hockey player means tonight’s men’s season opener at Boston College has been postponed. If the re-test comes back negative, the teams could play tomorrow night in Durham, and possibly play Sunday at BC,” tweeted Staton.
Neither Hockey East or UNH have released any more information at this time and more will be known about the re-test and the game on Saturday.
